First off, I want to say thank you to everyone for continuing to visit the site/forum even though I am slow at delivering new articles. Life is always busy and I try my best. Your membership is greatly appreciated! I know that World War II Central needs more content and needs to be continually improving. I'm working on some solutions to get more news content and I have a few more tutorials and reviews in the works.
One very important improvement that is needed is more members on the forum... this allows each of you to have more answers to your questions. More people start posting Battle Reports, Photos, and general topics... and before long an extremely valuable resource is constantly being maintained. I'll also be very open with the fact that I'm hoping someday World War II Central will generate some Advertising revenue; so far it's made no money (in fact it's in the red
I am excited to announce that I am massing some great prizes for a raffle contest to launch in the very near future. To name a few prizes I've procured (using money I saved up from a painting commission last year

-2 Brand New Copies of Mig Jimenez F.A.Q. Modelling Book (this book is AWESOME, hard to find, and when you do it costs ~$100 USD) While this is a "modeling" book it's tremendously useful for wargaming too.
-Several GHQ Blister Packs - All Brand New
-A few 15mm Battlefront Blister Packs - All Brand New
-A few 28mm Artizan Designs Packs - All Brand New
And, I am not done with the list yet but I plan to also purchase:
-A few Brand New WWII books
-Paint Sets (Maybe Vallejo?)
-Other items I'm still brain-storming on (rulebook, terrain, etc.)
I'm pretty happy to be able to offer so much stuff - and fortunately this is money that I've made in the course of this fun hobby, so I don't have to force my kids to starve to offer it. Now, here is where I need your feedback... The purpose of these raffles is two fold: 1. To give back to the members of WWIICentral and have some fun 2. To attract new members to join us. I'm considering running some cheap advertising to help people over but please spread the word once the contest starts and tell people about the great prizes.
Specifically, I'm thinking that to enter the contest an individual must join World War II Central and then in a designated topic/board on the forum, make a post to officially enter that includes a few details. If you are a current member then you would submit a post as well. Some info I'm thinking people should include is:
Name: (First name only is fine)
Location: (country or state)
Favorite Aspect of the Miniatures Hobby: (gaming, collecting, painting, etc.)
How did you become interested in World War II:
I think it will also be fun for current members to see all the new entries and this format gives everyone a chance to "introduce" themselves. No confidential data will need to be submitted or displayed because as a registered member I can pull their email addresses from my database so I can contact the winners.
What do you guys think? Suggestions?
Thanks!
